SUMMARY:Organic Farmers needed c/o organic research study
DESCRIPTION:Andy Pressman (NCAT) and Carolyn Dimitri (NYU) are trying to understand the challenges facing certified organic farmers regarding the economic sustainability of their farm operations. We are seeking certified organic farmers to participate in a virtual focus group so that we can understand their particular financial or economic challenges. \nOur next focus group will be for BIPOC (Black\, Indigenous\, and People of Color) organic farmers\, where we will discuss their specific needs. The focus group will be held on August 25\, 1-2:30 pm EST. This focus group will be led by Felicia Bell of NCAT. \nFarmers will participate via zoom (we would prefer this if you are able) or call into the session\, if internet access is an issue. Farmers will receive a $75 honorarium for participating in a 90 minute focus group and filling out a very brief survey prior to the focus group. \nPlease contact Carolyn Dimitri at carolyn.dimitri@nyu.edu or Andy Pressman at either andyp@ncat.org or 479-587-3475 to express your interest in participating and we will follow up with additional information. \nThank you for considering our request. DESCRIPTION:The Santa Barbara Certified Farmers’ Market is a fresh produce driven\, outdoor market of over 120 members. The market has been in existence for over 30 years and includes 6 local locations. The markets serve to strengthen the local communities ties and will help to provide weekly events at no cost while enhancing our community’s quality of life. Each week the farmers in the marketplace display a colorful bounty of agricultural products grown right in our backyard. Seasonal diversity is available year round rain or shine. \nSpecializing in certified organic produce and flowers from the immediate Solvang\, Santa Ynez\, Los Olivos and Buellton areas\, you can also find delicious peaches in the summer and sweet Satsuma mandarins in the winter. Fresh locally made pies\, bread\, pasta and muffins from Solvang’s own Creekside Apple Ranch is also a major draw.
