RMAC California Workshop Series Contract/Fee-for-Service Grazing for wildland fuels management
July 29, 2021 @ 10:00 am-1:00 pm
The Range Management Advisory Committee, an advisory body to the California State Board of Forestry and Fire Protection, has partnered with the California Fire Science Consortium to organize a statewide virtual workshop series on community-based wildland fuel management, with emphasis on contract grazing and the use of grazing animals for managing fine fuels. We would appreciate your assistance in spreading the word about this valuable tool! Please disseminate this information far and wide.
The webinar will be conducted as a series of three, three-hour workshops from 10am-1pm Pacific Time on July 29th, August 5th, and August 12th. The last hour will be devoted to conversation and discussion with the presenters. Please see below for a more detailed scheduled by date.
The July 29th session will include an introduction by UCCE livestock advisor Dan Macon on the topic of targeted, contract, and fee-for-service grazing, with a focus on fire risk mitigation. This session, along with the following two sessions, will include presentations on case studies from across California with both livestock managers and their contracting partners discussing their planning and implementation of grazing projects for vegetation and ecosystem management. Basic terms, concepts, and how the information is used for strategic planning.
